Philippine Island Kids Int’l. Foundation, Inc. (PIKIFI) offers a variety of programmes in the areas of social work and development aid. As a locally well-connected non-governmental organisation (NGO), PIKIFI works closely with the local authorities, the Philippine Department of Education, and several NGOs. People are always at the centre of its work. Together with them, sustainable solutions are developed for the often very complex problems and challenges they face. The aim is to help them to develop further and gradually break the cycle of poverty. A special focus is placed on children who have become victims of human trafficking and extreme neglect.

Bata-Alima Regenerative Living Int’l. Foundation, Inc. (BARLIF) runs regenerative agriculture on its own farm in order to support PIKIFI’s food supply with its produce. Through experiential educational activities, children and young people learn to interact with nature in a conscious way. The healing environment helps them to process their traumatic experiences. The PIKIFI programme also includes care places in families.

Home for Boys Claveria

In the rural community of Claveria, around 70 km from Cagayan de Oro, the Austrian charity Just One Touch has built a much-needed shelter for vulnerable boys. Together with Pikifi, which now runs the home in partnership with them, a safe haven is being created there that offers the children protection, stability and new opportunities for the future. https://just-one-touch.org/

Bata-Alima Pigcutin River Farm

The Farm, which emerged from the Kuya Thom project, pursues several goals: Food grown organically in regenerative agriculture supports the supply of the children’s village and school. Experiential educational activities promote the environmental awareness of the children and young people, as well as their community. Later, girls and boys in foster families will also receive long-term care and support at the farm.

Ruth Kellenberger Safe House

The house was christened «Ruth Kellenberger Safe House» to honour Thomas‘ mother, who passed away on 6 October 2020. The women’s shelter is located on the ground floor, while boys are accommodated on the upper floor.

Alice Rose Clover House

When completed, the social therapy prevention and intervention centre will provide therapy rooms for the more than 50 children in our Children’s Village, over 700 supported children and young people from several of the city’s poor neighbourhoods, and other victims of sexual and/or physical violence and extreme neglect.

Zion Children Village

The family as a place of security, where one experiences love, care and protection, is the most important unit of a society. In the Philippines, however, hundreds of thousands of children live on the streets as a result of poverty, neglect, violence and abuse.

Zion Community Learning Center

In our day school, the Zion Community Learning Center, around 400 students receive schooling, meals and medical care. We work in close partnership with the Philippine Department of Education, DepEd.

Landfill Learning Center

The Landfill Community Learning Center of Island Kids Philippines is located in the middle of the poor neighborhood of the recyclables collectors at the former municipal landfill of Cagayan de Oro. It has been providing various educational programs for the poorest children and youth since June 1, 2009, and for adults since 2013.

Medical Service

Our health service supports, accompanies and cares for people affected by poverty in cases of illness, during hospitalization, in aftercare and in palliative care.

Fight against human trafficking

Due to the poor economic situation in the slums, children and young people in particular are in great danger of becoming victims of human traffickers.

Safer Kids

PIKIFI became a partner with Save the Children Philippines in 2021 under their OSAEC programme.

BRC – Building Resilient Communities

This project brings together the Life Bank Foundation, the Partnership for Transparency Fund Asia and the Jesse Robredo Foundation to build resilient communities.

Street Outreach

The Street Outreach Team regularly visits street children in various hotspots of the city, conducts talks and experiential activities with them, actively listens to them and offers them professional help.

Relief

Geographically, the Philippines are part of the «Ring of Fire» and are regularly hit by violent natural events such as typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions.
